DESCRIPTION: Pieter Thymen Gouda, Netherlands, Dutch musical tall case clock, 8 days, time, Dutch strike on a single bell and 12 tunes on 13 bells, three brass clad weight driven movement in a burled walnut veneer case with elephant feet, inlay and marquetry, cast brass cartouche revealing pendulum and Atlas and Angelic figures for finials. The composite brass dial has moon phase in arch and silvered song selector for twelve tunes, Roman numeral, silvered arcaded chapter ring with engraved center, silvered second's bit with date aperture at center, month and day of the week, c1760
CONDITION: the case retains its original finish. There are small chips of veneer on the left leg and repairs on the right leg. Loss and damage to fretwork on right side of upper hood, and central carved ornament has been repaired. The Atlas / Angel figures have been repaired, gilt loss, chips, abrasions, scuffs.
